Coming off a pair of rather shitty weeks, Skipper and The Robot don’t have a whole lot of chipper topics to discuss on this weeks installment of STRLA. Instead, we discuss the army base shooting in Fort Hood, the high school rape drama unfolding in northern California.  We visit the pages of LA Weekly and discuss racial tension and L.A.’s depressing lack of interesting things to do this week as well as Lou Dobbs, the most annoying man in the world. Also, our hosts confirm that plain Life cereal is the most depressing breakfast option available, unless you’re a quaker.  In the wake of the Fort Hood shooting, Skip and Robot reflect on Muslim sentiments about the Islamic shooter responsible for 10+ deaths and 30+ wounded. And of course, a check in with the hard working girls of the Lingerie Football Leauge!

After our brief session in the studio, our hosts make their way out to Venice to partake in First Fridays, an Abbot Kinney outdoor art and music love fest that takes place on the first Friday of every month.  Here we meet a lively pedestrian and run in to Andrew Freeman from episode 001 and have an adventure with him and his Travel Channel friends!  Skip and Robot also visit the Coolhaus ice cream truck and a late night Venice beach house party with Andrew Heilprin and musical friends!

Check out the most amazing ice cream sandwich ever conceived courtesy of Coolhaus below of visit our YouTube homepage to see all our wicked videos!

This episode features music and interviews from Blue Eyed Son, the music brainchild of Venice musician and artist Andrew Heilprin.

After bumping in to Andrew Freeman on the sidewalk of Abbot Kinney, we head with him to the Tasting Kitchen where we meet up with Alex Boylan, television industry insider and winner of The Amazing race season 2.  We also met and interviewed Travel Channel producer Lori Rothschild, who is from New York and will call you out on your shit so be careful.  After speaking with Lori we interviewed Kirsten Gum, host of various Travel Channel programs and raw food activist!  As if there was some kind of weird Amazing Race reunion, we also got an interview with Brennan Swain, winner of season 1.

After departing the Tasting Kitchen, he head to the Venice beach home of local artist/musicians Paul Gronner and Scotty P. for the late, late after-party.  After hanging out and speaking with them and their guests and listening to an impromptu jam from Australian band WIM, we finally catch a brief interview with Andrew Heilprin, otherwise known as Blue Eyed Son, before grabbing a donut and calling a night!

This show features bonus content of Skip and Robot lost, looking for their car in Venice California.
